Money Saving Tip:
When a computer is in standby, it's central processing unit, hard drive, video card, and other components stop. Except one thing, the power supply. The power supply continues to consume electricity. So much electricity is used, it is indistinguishable between a computer in standby and a computer operating normally. A computer in standby is makes as much energy conservation, as leaving lights on in rooms you aren't currently using.

Just a note how much electricity a standby computer wastes, many companies have banned leaving computers on, or in standby when not in use. There is no energy consumption difference between on and standby, so employers are made when computers are left in standby for a whole weekend. There are movements in Europe to ban, make illegal, computers for sale that can be placed in standby. The proactive countries figure that a large part of weekend electric use is computers sitting in offices in standby, and from their calculations, they are very motivated to make 'computer standby' a thing in of the past.

So the moral of this story, if you plan on being away from the computer for a while, don't use a computer's standby feature. This feature can cost you money in the long run. Save your work, close all running programs, and turn off the computer properly. This will prevent loss of work, should your home or office regular power fail or flicker, and save you money immediately.

So Remember, don't put a computer in standby.
