Some simple gas saving tips:
1. Drive sensibly. Don't' accelerate too much, don't brake too hard.
2. Reduce the excess weight in your car's trunk. Extra weight causes the car to work harder, burning more gas, to move items you aren't using.
3. Get a tune up. Tuning up your car will keep it running as efficiently as possible.
4. Check the air in your tires. Your car's manufacture has recommended tire size and tire pressures, just read the manual, or check your tire information plate. This can cause the tires to roll more freely which equals less gas per mile burned.
5. Save your snow tires for the winter. Snow tires are heavier and often have poor handling characteristics in non-snow conditions.
6. Schedule your trips. Do one longer trip, with many errands, rather than many short trips for the same errands. This way your car warms up once, and operates at peak efficiency.
Another gas saving tip, is to not use gas. Some of the newer higher efficiency diesels on the market get per mile the same cost, and have lower maintenance costs over their life.
